Turkish Pide Near Me: Fresh Pide Daily at Pita House
Looking for authentic Turkish pide near you on Long Island? Pita House in Medford has been baking fresh, boat-shaped Turkish pide from scratch since 1993 — just like in Istanbul.
What Is Turkish Pide?
Turkish pide (pronounced "pee-deh") is a traditional boat-shaped flatbread that's been a staple of Turkish cuisine for centuries. Often called "Turkish pizza," pide is made with a thick, soft dough baked in a stone oven at high temperatures, resulting in a golden crust that's crispy outside and pillowy inside.
Unlike Italian pizza, pide has distinctive raised edges that form a boat shape, cradling fillings like seasoned ground lamb, melted cheese, Turkish sucuk sausage, spinach, or egg. At Pita House Long Island, our pide recipe was brought from Turkey by owner Jeff Sahin when he opened the restaurant in 1993 — making us one of the oldest and most authentic Turkish pide restaurants on Long Island.
